Our NDIS support coordinators in Canberra work alongside participants of all ages and backgrounds to help them understand their plans, connect with the right local service providers and build the skills to manage their support with growing independence. Whether you’ve just received your first NDIS plan or you’re navigating complex, high-needs supports, we tailor our approach to your individual goals.

We proudly provide service in ACT (Australian Capital Territory) and bring deep knowledge of local NDIS services, community resources and provider networks across Canberra. Our team is here to support you in every step of the way.

What Is NDIS Support Coordination?

NDIS Support Coordination is a funded support that helps participants put their NDIS plans into action. It sits within the Capacity Building budget of an NDIS plan and is designed to help participants understand, implement and get the most out of their funded support.

An NDIS support coordinator is a qualified professional who works with you to identify your goals, connect you with appropriate service providers, and make sure your various supports are working together effectively. Rather than making decisions for you, a support coordinator empowers you to take control of your own plan.

The NDIS distinguishes between three levels of support coordination:

  • Support Connection (Level 1) – for first-time participants who need help getting their initial services set up.
  • Support Coordination (Level 2) – for participants with moderate to significant complexity who are managing multiple providers or services.
  • Specialist Support Coordination (Level 3) – for participants with complex or high-risk support needs who require more intensive, specialist input.

Support coordination is not the same as plan management. While a plan manager handles your NDIS funding and invoices, a support coordinator focuses on implementing your plan and ensuring your supports are connected and goal-directed.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

What does a support coordinator do?

A support coordinator helps NDIS participants implement their plans by connecting them with service providers, coordinating their supports, tracking progress towards goals, and preparing for plan reviews. They act as a knowledgeable guide empowering participants to get the most from their NDIS funding without making decisions on their behalf.

How do I get support coordination in Canberra?

If your NDIS plan includes Capacity Building funding for Support Coordination, you can choose a registered NDIS provider in Canberra to deliver this service. Simply contact our team and we’ll walk you through the process of setting up a Service Agreement and getting started.

Is support coordination funded by the NDIS?

Yes, support coordination is funded under the Capacity Building budget of an NDIS plan. It is not deducted from your Core Supports budget. Not all plans automatically include support coordination funding, it is typically included where the NDIA determines it will help you implement your plan effectively.

What is the difference between support coordination and specialist support coordination?

Support Coordination (Level 2) assists participants with plan implementation, connecting to providers, and building capacity to self-manage over time. Specialist Support Coordination (Level 3) is for participants with particularly complex needs such as those involved with multiple service systems, at high risk, or in crisis and requires a higher level of expertise and ongoing intensity.

Can I change my support coordinator?

Yes, absolutely. NDIS participants have the right to choose and change their service providers at any time, including their support coordinator. If your current coordinator isn’t meeting your needs, you can end your Service Agreement (subject to any notice period) and engage a new provider. Our team is happy to discuss a smooth transition if you’re considering making a change. Contact Us for more!

Do I need to live near your office to access your services?

No, we support participants across Canberra and all over Australia. We can conduct meetings face-to-face, via phone, or via video call depending on your preference and circumstances. We are committed to flexible, accessible service delivery.

What is a psychosocial recovery coach and how is it different from support coordination?

A psychosocial recovery coach is a specific NDIS support designed for participants living with psychosocial disability. While a support coordinator focuses on plan implementation and provider coordination, a recovery coach takes a more holistic approach. They provide a recovery-oriented approach helping you build daily living skills, strengthen your mental health and engage with your community. Some participants may be funded for both.

How do I know if I have support coordination in my NDIS plan?

Check your NDIS plan document or log into your participant portal. Look for funding under the Capacity Building – Support Coordination budget line. If you’re unsure how to read your plan, contact our team. We’re happy to help you understand what you’re funded for.
