NDIS Counselling Services in Australia

Living with a disability can bring unique emotional, psychological, and social challenges and having the right support makes all the difference. Our NDIS counselling services are designed specifically for National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) participants who want to improve their mental health, emotional wellbeing, and overall quality of life.

As a registered NDIS provider, we offer professional counselling support delivered by qualified, compassionate counsellors who understand the specific needs of NDIS participants. Whether your goals relate to managing anxiety, building social skills, processing trauma, or navigating life with a disability, we’re here to walk alongside you.

NDIS Funded Service

Our counselling services can be funded through your NDIS plan under Improved Daily Living (Support Category 15) or Improved Living Arrangements, depending on your individual goals. Speak with your Support Coordinator or Plan Manager to confirm your funding eligibility.

What Is NDIS Counselling?

NDIS counselling is a therapeutic support service available to eligible NDIS participants. It focuses on building emotional resilience, developing coping strategies, and improving daily functioning — all within the framework of your NDIS plan and personal goals.

Our counsellors use evidence-based approaches including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), trauma-informed practice, and person-centred therapy. Every session is tailored to the participant’s goals, communication needs, and disability-specific considerations.

Counselling under the NDIS falls under the Capacity Building Supports budget, reflecting its focus on empowering participants to develop skills and independence over time.

How Counselling Supports Your NDIS Goals

NDIS counselling is directly aligned with your plan goals. Our services can help you work towards outcomes such as:

Improved emotional regulation

Managing feelings of anxiety, anger, sadness, or overwhelm more effectively in daily life.

Building social confidence

Developing communication skills and the confidence to engage with your community.

Processing trauma

Working through past experiences in a safe, supported environment.

Strengthening relationships

Improving family, carer, and peer relationships for greater connection and support.

Developing independence

Gaining the tools and strategies to manage daily challenges more autonomously.

Supporting mental health

Addressing depression, anxiety, grief, PTSD, and other mental health concerns.

Navigating life transitions

Coping with changes such as new living arrangements, school transitions, or employment.

Who We Support

Our NDIS counselling services are available to participants of all ages and across a wide range of disability types, including:

  • Psychosocial disabilities (mental health conditions)
  • Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD)
  • Acquired brain injuries
  • Intellectual disabilities
  • Physical and neurological disabilities
  • Developmental delays
  • Sensory impairments

We also offer counselling support for families and carers of NDIS participants, recognising that wellbeing extends beyond the individual.

Our NDIS Counselling Services

Individual Counselling

One-on-one sessions tailored to the participant’s unique goals and needs. Sessions can be delivered in our clinic, in the community, at the participant’s home, or via secure telehealth video call whichever best supports engagement and comfort.

Counselling for Children and Young People

We provide specialised counselling for children and adolescents with disabilities, using age-appropriate, play-based, and creative therapeutic techniques. Sessions are designed to be accessible, engaging, and responsive to each young person’s communication style and developmental needs.

Family and Carer Counselling

Supporting a person with a disability is deeply rewarding and can also be demanding. Our family and career counselling sessions help loved ones build their own resilience, navigate challenges, and strengthen their relationships with NDIS participants.

Telehealth Counselling (Online)

Can’t travel? No problem. All our counselling services are available via secure online video sessions, making professional support accessible to NDIS participants in metropolitan, regional, rural, and remote areas across Australia.

How NDIS Funding Works for Counselling

If you’re an NDIS participant, counselling may be funded under the following support categories:

  • Improved Daily Living (Support Category 15): This is the most common funding source for NDIS counselling. It covers supports that help participants develop skills, strategies, and independence.
  • Improved Living Arrangements: May apply if counselling goals relate to housing and daily living skills.

Funding can be self-managed, plan-managed, or agency-managed. We work with all three management types and can support you through the process of accessing your funding for counselling.
